Xengaru Fun Foods, LLC, develops and sells innovative food products aimed at “making fun food healthy and healthy food fun.” Xengaru’s vision is to improve the health of our community by providing healthful foods made from wholesome ingredients at reasonable prices. We will achieve our vision by using the best ingredients possible, by basing our formulations on sound science, and by being continually mindful of people’s needs.
Xengaru’s initial product is Pizzettos®,
a baked, flavorful gourmet snack that offers the taste and satisfaction of America’s
favorite food, pizza, in the form of a snack. Pizzettos® satisfies
growing consumer demand for healthier, more flavorful snacks and meets
recently enacted California Senate Bill 12 (SB12) that sets nutritional standards
for snacks, drinks and foods sold in elementary schools.
Even as a young company, Xengaru has received significant
recognition for its healthful formulation and innovative concept. Pizzettos® won
the 2003 NASA FTCSC Product Development Competition, and finished third in the
2003 National American Association of Cereal Chemists Product Development competition. More
recently Xengaru Fun Foods won the 2005 TechCoast Angels “Fast Pitch” competition
in Irvine, CA, for the best combined scores of the “Most Fundable
and Best Presentation by a new company seeking capital funding.
Co-founders Gerrie Adams and Anuradha Prakash, Ph.D. met in
2004 at Chapman University in Orange, California where Dr. Prakash is Program
Director for the Food Science and Nutrition Program. There she mentored
Gerrie in the formulation of Pizzettos® as a Product Development class project
aimed at developing a healthy, guilt-free, tasty snack. Today Xengaru
Fun Foods brings together Gerrie’s 25 years of sales and management experience
with Dr. Prakash’s 15 years of food science research, nutritional product
development and prominent position in the industry.
